Write Away Winter: 10-Week Group Curriculum

UCGrad, OMSA, SSS, the Writing Program and the Office of the Provost have partnered to offer grad/professional students, and post-docs an intensive, quarter-long writing program. This is a peer-directed, highly-focused, results-oriented writing program for graduate and professional school students and postdocs working on a major writing project (e.g. a dissertation chapter, dissertation-related project, article, grant writing, proposal writing, etc.).
Participants commit to meeting with their group every Friday (9am - 1pm) from January 5 through March 16 for
-3 hours of focused writing time in a dedicated, quiet space on campus (9am – 12pm)
-1-hour peer-facilitated discussion aligned with the curriculum components, designed to help you make progress on your academic writing goals (12pm – 1pm)
-additional skill-building workshops offered by University of Chicago staff, including from the Writing Program (Little Red Schoolhouse)

The first meeting will be held on Friday, January 5, 2018, introducing participants to the program and to your groups. The first writing session is on Friday, January 12.

Refreshments will be provided.

*This program is open to all graduate students and postdocs at the University of Chicago, but please be aware that the objectives and activities are tailored to the experiences of people from racial/ethnic, cultural, and socioeconomic backgrounds historically excluded in higher education.*
